TORONTO (August 9, 2012) From British sensations to a Canadian songstress with one of the year’s biggest international hits, the countdown is on until some of the hottest pop stars descend on Toronto for KiSS 92.5’s WHAM BAM 2012. Live from the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre, KiSS 92.5 brings fans to the heart of the action – from red carpet arrivals, to candid moments backstage, and one-on-one interviews with performers – on Thursday, August 16 starting at 2 p.m. ET.
For fans not able to attend the concert in-person, KiSS 92.5 is providing multiplatform coverage of this year’s can’t-miss summer concert series.
For the first time in WHAM BAM history, KiSS 92.5 will stream live coverage of the candid backstage action on KiSS925.com throughout the event, beginning at 4 p.m. ET through the last performance. Four behind-the-scenes cameras will capture all angles – from red carpet arrivals, to artist interviews, as well as live reports from WHAM BAM fans with Digital Correspondent Graeme O’Neil. Fans can stay engaged with Twitter and Facebook (social media links below) to keep tabs on the hosts, performers and KiSS 92.5 crew all night long.
And live backstage from the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre, KiSS 92.5 on-air hosts Devo Brown and Taylor Kaye, as well as 680News veteran Music Reporter Rudy Blair, will bring the electric atmosphere to life at KiSS 92.5 and 680News, with exclusive interviews and red carpet reports. KiSS 92.5’s afternoon and evening hosts Cash Conners and Dave Blezard will also broadcast live on-location from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET, respectively.
Plus, CityNews Entertainment Anchor Mary Kitchen will have the lowdown on the performers, from the latest industry gossip to fashions from the first-ever WHAM BAM red carpet. In addition to doing live reports on CityNews Channel throughout the evening, Kitchen will anchor CityNews’ Entertainment City segment live from WHAM BAM on CityNews at Five and CityNews at Six, with a full recap on the day’s events on CityNews Tonight on Citytv and CityNews Channel.
“Expanding a typically radio-dominated event like WHAM BAM across multiple platforms will truly enhance the audience experience this year,” said Karen Steele, Program Director, KiSS 92.5. “From tapping into our active communities on social media, to engaging our leading sister news and entertainment brands at Rogers Media, we are going beyond the airwaves to deliver the ultimate fan experience for KiSS 92.5’s WHAM BAM 2012.”
WHAM BAM has drawn huge crowds since its launch in 2000, and through the years, has consistently brought the biggest names in music to Toronto’s summer concert scene, including Usher, Destiny’s Child, Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Adam Lambert, Kardinal Offishall, Ke$ha, Akon, and LMFAO. Originally held at Kingswood Music Theatre, it later transformed into a stadium show at Rogers Centre and in 2003, found a permanent home at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre.
